With immense pleasure and exultation, State Public School organized 15th All India Sardar Darshan Singh Memorial English Debate Competition. Its an interschool debate competition where 30 schools across the state participated with full zeal and zest. Dr. S.P.S. Grover, who is an excellent human being and has completed MBBS in 1979 and his MD in 1984. He started his practice by opening New Ruby Hospital Pvt. Ltd in Jalandhar in 1986 and Mrs. Poonam Behl, who has done BSC Home Science from PAU and has done diploma in personal management and industrial relations were the esteemed and revered chief guests for the occasion. The event was also graced with the benign presence of Managing Director of Group of State Public Schools Mr. Anmol Singh along with Principal of State Public School, Nakodar, Dr. Sonia Sachdeva. President of Rotary Club, Mr. P.S. Bindra along with Rotarian Mr. Kuldeep were present as special guests. The jury members of the debate comprised of respected Prof. B.P.S Bedi, who is an MA, M. phil in English from Punjab University, Chandigarh, worthy Dr Reena Sharma, an associate profession with 22 years of teaching English from KMV and respected Ms. Nazam Riar, a personality Development coach and a communication skill expert.
Top three best school performers along with top three best speakers are awarded with trophy and cash prizes. The first school receives running trophy along with Rs 10,000 cash prize while the second school gets trophy along with Rs 5000 cash while third schools get a trophy with Rs 3000 cash. The first best speaker gets a trophy with Rs 2000 cash while the second best speaker gets trophy along with Rs 1500 cash. The third best speaker is rewarded with Rs 500 cash.
The competition started with shabad gayan and ended with national anthem. It was a cut throat competition and with lot of efforts and thought by judges DAV Public School, Amritsar was declared as winner school of the debate , whereas the first runner up school was MGN Public School, Adarsh Nagar, Jalandhar. Swami Sant Dass School, Phagwara was awarded with second runner up trophy. Mohit Verma from BCM School, Ludhiana bagged the first prize while Ishtroop Kaur from Lakewood School, Ludhiana got the second position and Shubhi Thakur from Innocent Hearts School, Lohoran, Jalandhar got the third position in the best speaker category.
The President of Group of State Public Schools, Dr. Narotam Singh,the Vice President, Dr. Gagandeep Kaur and Principal Mrs. Savina Bahl were overjoyed with the fantastic performance of the debaters and congratulated to all the winning schools as well the speakers.
