Mental health needs a great deal of attention. It's the final taboo and it needs to be faced and dealt with.
A one-day workshop on “Promoting Mental Well-being Among Students” was successfully conducted at State Public School, Jalandhar Cantt. The workshop aimed to raise awareness among educators and equip them with practical strategies to support students’ mental and emotional well-being.
The event was enriched by the presence of distinguished educationists Ms. Sharmila Nakra, Deputy Director of Innocent Heart School, and Dr. Roma Dullat, Principal of Lord Mahavira Jain Public School, who served as resource persons. They shared their expertise on early signs of mental distress, the role of empathy in teaching, and the importance of building a supportive school environment.
The workshop featured four insightful sessions, covering the fundamentals of mental health in schools, the crucial role of teachers in creating a positive impact, the importance of support services, and a collaborative activity on designing school-based mental health programmes. Teachers actively participated in discussions, shared their experiences, and presented practical solutions to common challenges faced in classrooms.
The sessions emphasized on the urgent need to destigmatise mental health and to integrate well-being practices into everyday school life.
The President, Dr Narotam Singh, the Vice President, Dr Gagandeep Kaur along with the Principal Mrs Savina Bahl and the Vice Principal, Mrs Gagandeep Kaur Khera firmly believed that academic excellence goes hand-in-hand with emotional well-being. Through initiatives like these, we reaffirm our commitment to nurturing not just bright minds, but also emotionally resilient individuals.
